The attack, reported around 04:35 local time, caused a fire onboard, primarily in the engine room/stern area, prompting the 23 crew members to abandon ship. 20 crew members were rescued and picked up by Omani navy/coast guard in lifeboats. 3 crew members initially remained unaccounted for (possibly injured or trapped in the engine room); later reports indicate they were assessed aboard but no confirmed fatalities or severe injuries yet.
