Woye @woye1 CENTENARY CITY vs ABUJA CITY WALK: Abuja Centenary Economic Project is a $18.5 billion smart city development located on 1260 hectares of land. 2: It is a Public Private Partnership. Approved in 2014. -(a): Promoters are Dr.Odenigwe Ike Micheals Jr and former SGF Pius Anyim Pius. -(b): FG provides Land and Centenary PLC provides financing, planning, developing and managing the city. -(c): Private sector recovers their money from through sales of estate, shops etc. 3: Why Delay? -(a): There were several court cases involving the centenary city project. -(b): Nov 2022, the FHC granted an interim injunction against FCTA and FCDA from encroachment. -(c): Feb 2024, Justice Inyang Ekpo delivered his judgment restraining FCT Minister (before Wike oooo), FCDA, and Arab Contractors from entering or interfering with the Centenary Economic City. 4: In 2017, @HouseNGR investigated alleged irregularities surrounding the allocation and administration of Centenary City Project. 5: Current Status: -(a): Primary Infrastructure is under construction including roads, drainage, water, electricity, and other utilities. -(b): a N750bn Phase 1 infrastructure contract was awarded to Julius Berger by the PROMOTER not Govt oooooo to build backbone infrastructure for the city. -(c): a 4.3km, four lane access road is about 38% complete as of June 2026 with completion target of 2027. -(d): Residential developments, particularly THE GROVE ESTATE are progressing alongside the primary infrastructure. 6: The project will include: Central Business District, Financial district, Luxury residential, hotels and serviced apartments, International Convention center, Mall of Africa, Championship golf course( this na my own), parks and recreation facilities, and Free trade zone for businesses and investors. 7: Since assuming office, @GovWike has been supporting them to fast track the project. 8: The difference between Abuja City Walk and Centenary City are as follows: -(a): same PPP but different PROMOTERS like transcorp and Sheraton. Hotel but different owners. -(b): the two projects are quite different in their purpose, scale and business model. -(c): While Centenary City is creating new city, the Abuja City Walk is improving existing part of Abuja. -(d): Abuja City walk is urban regeneration while Centenary is a large mixed use satellite city.
