Woye @woye1 My 7th Inspection visit to the Kabala Costain-Aliyu Makama Road Construction project,being executed under the leadership of Gov @ubasanius 2: It is encouraging to witness the steady progress on this vital infrastructure that will improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and enhance economic activities in Kaduna State. 3: May I remind you that the Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama is a 2.7-kilometer Dual Carriageway project including a new dual-carriageway bridge across the River Kaduna. -(a): the contractor suspended work because of delayed payment and Gov @ubasanius revived the project by clearing the outstanding N2.2billion debt. -(b): He also approved an additional 50% (that is N6 billion) advance payment to continue the projects. -(c): He did not borrow money to achieve nos 3 (a) & (b). 4: The new Consultant discovered the initial design was unsafe. That is a sharp curve immediately after the bridge which could cause accidents. -(a): It was redesigned to include a GENTLER CURVE and a second bridge to address flooding and safety concerns. Safety comes first in engineering. -(b): the new design also involves an additional 90-metre bridge to handle water-logging challenges after soil tests showed subsoil depth of 9 metres. 5: Previous Job Done: -(a): 600 metres of road and one bridge out of 2.7kms had been completed before the project was stalled. -(b): In a simple arithmetic, that is 22% for the road.
