Nigeria's Civil Registration Goes Fully Digital Since 1 July 2026, the National Population Commission (NPC) has rolled out VitalReg as Nigeria's sole digital platform for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS), replacing the old paper-heavy process. What this means for Nigerians: ✅ Faster birth and death registration. ✅ Apply online anytime, reducing long queues and unnecessary travel. ✅ Secure digital certificates with easier verification and reprints. ✅ Faster correction of errors on certificates. ✅ Better integration with other government services in the future. Services now available include: - Birth registration (0–17 years) - Birth attestation (18+ without a birth certificate) - Foreign birth notification - Death registration - Certificate correction, reprint and reissuance - Certificate verification - Health facility onboarding Why it matters Over 5 million children are born in Nigeria every year, yet only about 57% are registered. Death registration is below 20%. Without these records, many Nigerians face challenges accessing education, healthcare, passports, inheritance claims and other government services. The new digital system is designed to make registration easier, improve data accuracy, reduce paperwork and lay the foundation for more efficient public service delivery. To register or access these services, visit: https://vitalreg-selfservice.nationalpopulation.gov.ng Alternatively, Nigerians can visit any NPC registration centre nationwide for assisted support. #KemKem @natpopcom
