BREAKING: President Tinubu has approved the extension of the 700km Akwanga-Maiduguri Highway by an additional 400km, increasing the length of the strategic road corridor to 1,100km. The new extension will take the highway through Taraba State, creating stronger links between the North-Central and North-East. The highway, originally conceived as a dual carriageway linking Akwanga in Nasarawa State with Maiduguri in Borno State through Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and Biu, will further extend the corridor into Taraba State, with the additional 400km extension. Tinubu also approved the reconstruction of major roads across the country, as disclosed by the Minister of Works, David Umahi. They include: - Reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with reinforced concrete pavement. - Completion of the abandoned Ibi Bridge in Taraba State. - Construction of the 5.76-kilometre Lau Bridge across the Benue River in Taraba State. - Construction of 400km dualised East-West Road running from Lokoja down to Benin.
