DSS RELEASES CARPENTER MARWANA CLEARED OF TERROR LINKS; PAYS N3 MILLION INITIAL COMPENSATION The Department of State Services, DSS, has released a carpenter, Mustapha Marwana after investigations cleared him of links to terrorist activities. Marwana, a native of Katsina, was arrested in connection with the abduction and killing of school pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. A DSS investigation panel found no evidence linking him to the membership, financing, logistics or operations of the Ansaru terrorist group. Following the findings, DSS Director-General, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, ordered his immediate release and approved an initial three-million-naira compensation to support his reintegration and livelihood. Marwana was released to his lawyer, Oghene Forgive, and expressed appreciation to the DSS leadership for what he described as a humane intervention. The Service says the compensation is part of its efforts to support persons cleared after investigations and strengthen public confidence. The DSS adds that more than 300 million naira has been paid under the current leadership to persons cleared of allegations or affected by mistaken identity
