“I know that many APC supporters, including my respected big brother CP Remi Adeoye II (Rtd), and other senior leaders, politicians, friends, brothers, and sisters may not like my honest position. But I was never called to convenience. I was called to truth. I choose to be real, even when it is uncomfortable. So I ask a simple but necessary question. What is the real difference between Reno Omokri and Omoyele Sowore in relation to what Sowore is being prosecuted for in Nigeria today? Sowore and I are not friends, but he is my big brother and a Nigerian. He once published false and defamatory claims about me on Sahara Reporters, claims we all know were lies. Yet that incident exposes what our leadership has allowed Nigeria’s uncensored media space to become. A breeding ground for impunity, selective outrage, and reckless misinformation, all watched silently by those in power. What is happening in the criminal trials involving Natasha Akpoti will determine far more than one individual’s fate. It will define what our police and judiciary will become tomorrow, both in Nigeria and internationally. The precedent being set today will either strengthen justice or normalize lawlessness. It will decide whether false accusations can thrive without accountability, whether evidence becomes optional, and whether gender and the law can be weaponized for political gain and settlements. I will make a separate post later today to address the disturbing issues of selective justice and institutional impunity in Nigeria. And how politicizing sensitive issues can destroy a nation. Justice cannot be selective and still be justice. If Reno is forgiven, then Sowore should also be forgiven and rewarded. If Asari Dokubo and Sunday Igboho are enjoying freedom, why is Nnamdi Kanu still detained in Sokoto prison? A nation that applies the law based on convenience or political alignment is no longer governed by justice but by power. Finally, if Natasha Akpoti is allowed to walk away freely, I hope the younger Natashas watching closely do not learn that one can wake up, weaponize gender, make grave accusations without evidence, and enjoy political settlements in Nigeria. I hope they do not one day turn that same weapon on Seyi Tinubu, Senator Remi Tinubu, or anyone else, including the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, and make them taste the shame, emotional trauma, psychological damage, and public humiliation that come with false accusations.
