NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE IMPLEMENTS 2026 FISCAL POLICY MEASURES/ TARIFF AMENDMENTS The Federal Government has approved the implementation of the 2026 Fiscal Policy Measures and Tariff Amendments to strengthen Nigeria's fiscal and trade framework, boost competitiveness, and enhance revenue generation. A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, says the measures introduce key changes to the Customs and Excise Tariff. These include revised ECOWAS Common External Tariff lists, import and export prohibition lists, excise duty schedules, and a Green Tax surcharge on vehicles with engine capacities of 2,000cc and above. Importers, exporters, manufacturers, licensed customs agents, and other stakeholders are required to familiarise themselves with the new tariff schedules and comply with the updated fiscal and regulatory requirements. The Nigeria Customs Service has published the full document on its official website to promote transparency and ensure smooth implementation. The Service says successful implementation will depend on stakeholders' cooperation in advancing trade facilitation, revenue collection, border security, and sustainable economic growth.
