ONDO FIRST LADY LEADS CHARGE AGAINST DIGITAL VIOLENCE: ‘SPEAK OUT, END GBV’ The Wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to eliminating all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), with a special focus on the growing threat of digital abuse targeting women and girls. This comes as the 2025 edition of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence continues in the state, themed "Unite To End Digital Digital Violence Against Women and Girls." During a sensitization tour to the Deji's palace in Akure, Mrs. Aiyedatiwa urged women and girls who are victims of any form of violence to speak out and seek help, breaking the silence fueled by stigma and cultural discouragement. "Many are going through a lot but refuse to speak out because of stigmatisation. Our culture too is discouraging victims of gender-based violence to seek help. That is why we are sensitising our women and girls to always speak out to get justice," she said, soliciting the Deji's support in this fight. The Wife of the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Bosede Adelami, echoed this call, describing the theme as "internet-related" and stressing that speaking out is key to ending the scourge. She also appealed to the Kabiyesi for support. In response, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, condemned GBV and assured the Governor's Wife of his full support, saying, "We will do everything possible to stop it by force."
